DESIGNING A HOME, PERSONALLY

A Gathering of Contrasts.

A Gathering of Contrasts.

A Gathering of Contrasts.

The kitchen and dining spaces were conceived as places for gathering, conversation, and everyday living. Warm natural materials meet more expressive finishes, creating a balance between refinement and personality. Throughout the home, European white oak herringbone floors establish a sense of continuity, while carefully considered cabinetry, furnishings, lighting, and artwork give each space its own character. The intention was never to create rooms that matched, but rooms that belonged together.

DESIGN THROUGHOUT THE HOME

Different rooms. One personal story.

Different rooms. One personal story.

Different rooms. One personal story.

Each room was given permission to express its own personality. The primary bedroom offers a quieter, more intimate retreat, while the bathrooms introduce a more expressive interplay of materials, pattern, and detail. The powder room embraces a touch of whimsy, proving that even the smallest spaces can make a memorable impression. The boys' bedroom brings another dimension to the home, balancing playfulness with practicality and, importantly, giving them a voice in shaping their own space. They selected the colors, rug, bunk beds, and artwork, bringing their individual personalities and preferences into the design. My role was to bring those choices together into a room that felt cohesive, comfortable, and entirely theirs. That collaboration reflects a belief at the heart of my approach to design: the people who live in a home should have a meaningful voice in how it takes shape. The designer brings experience, perspective, and an understanding of how the elements work together, but the choices belong to the people who will live with them, unless they prefer otherwise. Every member of the household deserves to be considered and invited into the process. Across these spaces, the common thread is not a particular aesthetic, but the belief that a home should reflect the people who inhabit it.

PROJECT NARRATIVE

A home that tells your story.

A home that tells your story.

A home that tells your story.

Conceived as a personal residence, this design offered an opportunity to explore what it means to create a home that is entirely, unapologetically one's own. Rather than follow a single design language, the home embraces contrast, character, and the freedom to bring together pieces that speak to different sensibilities. Familiar materials sit alongside unexpected details, and quieter moments provide balance to more expressive spaces.

The result is a collection of spaces that feel individual yet connected, shaped by thoughtful choices and a willingness to let each room speak for itself. Ultimately, A Home, Personally is an expression of a simple belief: a beautifully considered home doesn't need to follow a single design language. It needs to tell a story that feels authentic to the people who live there.
